Growing a business while disrupting capitalism can feel like quite the paradox. Let me help you bridge that gap. Paid subscribers get access to weekly content prompts, monthly Q&As, and quarterly workshops, all designed to help you show up online with clarity, consistency, and meaningful impact. You can do this, and I’d love to support you.
Dear reader,
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard people use the phrase “screaming into the void” to describe their experience of showing up online.
Often, this feeling leads to waiting to feel good, right, or inspired to show up, which has us then tending to our various pages in fits and starts, never to experience sustainable growth.
Imagine if we treated a garden this way. We water the plants, pick the weeds, harvest the vegetables only when we feel like it.
Days and weeks go by. What happens?
No more garden.
So we plant new seeds and start from scratch, over and over and over again.
Not a great system.
The great Octavia Butler once said:
“First forget inspiration. Habit is more dependable. Habit will sustain you whether you’re inspired or not.”
Inspiration is like a lover who makes grand gestures but can’t be bothered to show up for the “boring” day-to-day maintenance of a relationship.
Habit, on the other hand, is the steadfast rock of a partner. The courageous companion—because it takes courage to be boring. To make a plan, follow through, stick with it, and resist chasing the next shiny thing.
But when you’re a creative, this is easier said than done.
Ideas abound, and the thought of resigning and confining oneself to the rigidity and monotony of habit sounds both like a pipe dream and prison.
Don’t worry. You’re in good hands. I, too, am an impossible-to-pin-down creative.
I’m also a workflow whiz, and I’ve built a flexible system you can tailor to your own brain, so you can create consistently while honoring your unique style of organization, intuition, and energy.
And just so we’re clear, tending to your content garden every day does not mean posting every day. I would never do you like that.
